01 · THE DISPATCH

Iranian sources, cited by security analyst Yair Goldblatt, report that First Sergeant Hamid Zarei Haji-Abadi of the Iranian border guard was killed in an American strike near Bandar Kohestak in Hormozgan province, southeast Iran. The report has not been independently verified.

The killing adds to a series of unverified reports of US strikes on Iranian territory. Earlier this week, The Zioneer reported that Iran named an IRGC special naval fighter killed in what it said were American strikes. Unlike that case, the victim in this report is a border guard rather than a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
