Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaie stated Monday evening that no negotiations are currently taking place with the United States, according to Israeli outlet The Radar.
On Sunday evening, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that messages are being exchanged with the United States via Qatar and Pakistan. The spokesman did not deny negotiations at that stage.
Throughout Monday, a series of statements from Iranian officials explicitly denied any direct talks. At 11:11 Jerusalem, Baghaie said messages had been passed but that 'we are not currently talking to Washington.' At 11:17, he stated: 'As of now, we are not conducting any negotiations with the American side.'
The denial was reinforced later. The state-aligned Tasnim news agency quoted Baghaie denying negotiations and adding that Iran is only holding talks with Oman regarding arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz. At 13:45, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement: 'There are no negotiations with the United States, and there is nothing called a ceasefire.'
The Iranian Army also weighed in on Monday, stating: 'There is no current negotiation with Washington. America is the one that created an unsafe route in the Strait of Hormuz, and there will be no talks on that.'
The coordinated denials from multiple institutions underscore Tehran's firm position that no direct talks are underway, despite the continued exchange of messages via third parties.
