TL;DR

Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security Committee, warned Tuesday that if Israel does not withdraw from southern Lebanon in accordance with understandings reached between Iran and the United States, Iran will respond. In a Persian-language statement, Azizi said the US must faithfully implement all clauses of the memorandum of understanding, including ending the war against Lebanon and a swift evacuation of southern Lebanon by Israel. The English version of his statement, published separately, omitted the implicit military threat, Iran news channels report.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Iranian parliamentary security chief Ebrahim Azizi on Tuesday issued a fresh warning that Iran would respond if Israel does not withdraw from southern Lebanon under the terms of understandings reached with the United States. In a Persian-language statement, Azizi said the US must faithfully implement the memorandum of understanding, including 'stopping the war against Lebanon and a swift evacuation of southern Lebanon by the fake regime.' He added that any violation or deviation from the framework 'will cause Iran's security forces, with the support of the mighty nation, to respond with greater determination and more severity than before.'

Iran news channels noted that the English version of Azizi's statement, published separately, omitted the implicit military threat almost entirely. The discrepancy adds to a growing pattern of dual messaging from Tehran in the ongoing diplomatic standoff over southern Lebanon.

As The Zioneer reported, this follows escalating Iranian rhetoric this week. On Monday, Iran threatened to blow up the agreement unless the IDF withdraws by that night, and Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaie warned the US must enforce ceasefire obligations. On Tuesday morning, Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that ending the war in Lebanon is inseparable from ending the war in Iran, demanding full Israeli withdrawal. Azizi's threat marks the latest in the thread, with a noticeably different tone between domestic and international audiences.

The core facts remain: Israel has not withdrawn from security zones in southern Lebanon, and Iran continues to condition the broader regional deal on a full Israeli pullout. There is no indication of any new military movements on the ground as of Tuesday evening.
