01 · THE DISPATCH

Minister Gila Gamliel, a member of the security cabinet, stated Monday that the Israel Defense Forces retain full freedom of action to strike anywhere in Lebanon, including Beirut, against emerging threats. In an interview with the 'Kol Barama' radio station, she said: 'The IDF can also strike in Beirut.'

Gamliel further asserted that Israel will not withdraw from the territory it has captured in Lebanon — extending to the Beaufort Castle and the Litani River — until Hezbollah is disarmed. 'We will not leave the territories we captured in Lebanon until Hezbollah disarms,' she said.

The statement reiterates Israel's longstanding security posture on the northern front and aligns with recent comments by Defense Minister Israel Katz, who said Sunday that the IDF will maintain an open-ended presence in security zones across Lebanon. The remarks come against a backdrop of diplomatic signals from Iran and Hezbollah, who have both claimed restraint since a U.S.-Iran deal, while the IDF continues strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern and eastern Lebanon.
