The owner of a daycare center in Kiryat Gat is suspected of fabricating a break-in to destroy evidence of staff abusing children, according to a Sunday report by Kan News. Parents who had heard recordings of staff cursing and yelling at their children requested to view the center's security footage. The following day, the owner told them the center had been burglarized overnight and the recording device stolen. Suspicious, the parents filed a police complaint on suspicion of abuse. Police collected evidence and questioned the owner under caution; she is now under house arrest, also suspected of obstruction of justice.
The recordings, obtained by parents, captured disturbing remarks. In one, an aide is heard saying of a child: "She already got beatings on her hands." In another, a teacher says of a girl: "Bitch, now I have to change her," to which the aide replies: "Throw him in the crib."
The case echoes a recent incident in Ramla where two daycare workers were arrested after a child was allegedly left outside in the heat as punishment. That case is also under investigation.
