Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Crimea overnight, targeting fuel and energy infrastructure in Sevastopol, Saky, Dzhankoi, Simferopol, and Hvardiiske, according to reports. Saky Airbase was also a likely target. Russian air defenses were active throughout the night, and there is a reported threat of Neptune cruise missiles.
Ukraine's overnight drone offensive struck targets across at least six locations in Crimea, with a focus on fuel and energy infrastructure and a possible airbase. The attack on Saky Airbase, if confirmed, would mark a repeat strike on a facility that houses Russian naval aviation assets.
The region has been under sustained Ukrainian pressure. As The Zioneer reported on June 11, the governor of Sevastopol announced severe fuel supply disruptions after prior drone strikes blocked truck deliveries. That same day, Ukrainian forces struck seven bridges and transport links in Kherson and northern Crimea. On June 12, an attack on the Crimean capital Simferopol was reported.
Russian air defenses were highly active overnight. The attack comes amid broader Ukrainian drone campaigns deep into Russia, including strikes on energy and industrial targets in Tatarstan, Samara, and Krasnodar Krai over the past week. The reported Neptune cruise missile threat, if materialized, would represent a significant escalation in the type of munitions used.
No damage assessments or casualty figures have been reported yet.
