National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called for the Palestinian Authority to be disarmed and demilitarized, and for people he said threaten Israeli civilians to be arrested. He made the remarks while standing near Tulkarm, along the seam line, three years after October 7.
Ben Gvir said he was standing near Tulkarm, on the seam line and a short distance from Highway 6, Netanya, Kfar Saba and communities in the Sharon region. He called for the Palestinian Authority to be disarmed and demilitarized and for people he said threaten Israeli civilians to be arrested. He invoked October 7 as a warning against waiting for a threat to reach Israeli communities.
In separate earlier reports, The Zioneer reported on July 20 that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara had told the High Court that efforts to reach an understanding with Ben Gvir had failed, citing unresolved disagreements over police independence. That report described a legal dispute over the minister’s role and did not report the remarks he made near Tulkarm.
