Minister Amichai Shikli toured the resettled community of Sha-Nur in northern Samaria with Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan on Tuesday. Dagan recalled the oath taken during the 2005 disengagement to return, pointing to the flag atop the ancient citadel, saying 'we merited to fulfill the oath.' Shikli replied: 'Moving to return. We fixed it.'
Minister Amichai Shikli toured the resettled community of Sha-Nur in northern Samaria on Tuesday with Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, according to reports. During the visit, Dagan recounted the vow made on the day of the 2005 disengagement to return and raise the Israeli flag atop the ancient citadel. Pointing to the flag now flying, he stated: 'We merited to fulfill the oath.'
The visit is part of a series of ministerial tours to Sha-Nur in recent weeks. As The Zioneer has reported, Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter toured the site on July 7 and called the resettlement 'restoring the earth to its natural place.' Transportation Minister Miri Regev visited the following day, describing the return as a 'national moment.' In late June, Dagan released a video calling the return to northern Samaria a 'historic achievement' and urging similar action in the Gaza Strip.
The renewed community in Sha-Nur was re-established earlier this year, nearly two decades after the disengagement from the northern West Bank. The visit by Minister Shikli, who serves as Diaspora Affairs Minister, underscores the government's continued support for settlement in the area. No further announcements were made during the tour.
