01 · THE DISPATCH

In a radio interview Monday morning, Culture and Sport Minister Miki Zohar (Likud) offered a vigorous defense of the Trump-Netanyahu relationship, dismissing claims of friction over the emerging US-Iran nuclear deal. 'Trump and Netanyahu are preparing us several surprises, even before the elections,' Zohar told Kol Yisrael. 'Anyone who tries to write off the connection between Netanyahu and Trump will yet eat their hat.' The minister addressed the Iranian threat in three components: nuclear weapons, proxies, and ballistic missiles. 'Nuclear weapons? They won't have them,' he said. Regarding the proxies, Zohar claimed Israel 'handled and will continue to handle' them, and on the missiles said Israel retains the right to self-defense. On the nuclear negotiations, Zohar asserted the deal is 'not even at the starting line' and that Israel holds the upper hand. Asked about the reported US financial concessions to Tehran, he said: 'Trump is giving billions to Iran? Let them have trillions too. Do you think we'll see them run with this money to a nuclear weapon and stay silent?' Zohar's remarks come as The Zioneer has reported extensively on the secret US-Iran track, including Israeli concerns that the administration may settle for a diluted enrichment arrangement rather than a full dismantlement of Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
