01 · THE DISPATCH
Late Saturday evening, Degel HaTorah sources confirmed the ouster of veteran MK Moshe Gafni from United Torah Judaism after 38 consecutive years in the Knesset. As The Zioneer reported earlier this evening (22:45), Gedolei HaTorah had decided to replace Gafni and MK Uri Maklev with a new slate headed by MK Yaakov Asher. The update confirms that Asher will become party chairman and Gafni is removed. The party has been under internal strain over the yeshiva draft exemption bill, as The Zioneer has previously reported.
