The Movement for Quality Government in Israel petitioned the High Court of Justice this morning against the new law governing the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash), which was passed by the Knesset hours earlier. The petition argues the law "severely harms" Mahash's independence and subordinates it to the political echelon, and seeks to prevent what it calls the politicization of the department head's appointment.
