Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, standing alongside the crew and passengers who thwarted a hijacking attempt on a Flydubai flight, warned Israelis to remain vigilant, stating the country is in a 'very sensitive period' and that adversaries are seeking to attack, The Zioneer reports.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday met with the four Israeli passengers who subdued the pilot of a Flydubai flight during an attack in the air, warning Israelis that "our enemies intend to harm us" and urging vigilance. "We are in a very sensitive period," Netanyahu said in remarks published by The Zioneer.
Netanyahu told Yaniv Hayon, Or Fardilov, Dr. Shota Musayev, and Sigalit Musayev that they will light a torch of civilian heroism on Independence Day after hearing their account of the struggle. The Indian pilot, who was attacked in the cockpit, was transferred to Dubai for further treatment and is "recovering well," according to reports.
Earlier Thursday, The Zioneer reported that Netanyahu had advised passengers to "make sure an Israeli sits next to you" in light of the incident, saying "I don't know if the next plane you're on will be hijacked." The warning preceded his meeting with the heroes and his broader appeal for national alertness.
The meeting comes amid heightened security concerns. The Zioneer reported last month that security forces recommended Netanyahu's plane depart discreetly over an Iranian threat, and the Prime Minister has repeatedly highlighted the elevated risk of attack.
