Arab arsonists set a fire in grazing lands north of the Palestinian town of Tayibe in the Binyamin region of Judea and Samaria on Monday evening, according to the Binyamin Regional Council. Israeli volunteers who arrived to extinguish the blaze were pelted with stones by rioters; one volunteer was lightly injured. Despite the attack, the volunteers successfully put out the fire. The council says the mayor of Tayibe subsequently falsely claimed, in a statement cited by Al Jazeera, that settlers had started the fire — an allegation the council rejects as a libel aimed at discrediting the settlement enterprise.
