Tel Aviv police filed a prosecutor's statement Tuesday against a 37-year-old Palestinian from the Judea area who was staying in Israel illegally, on suspicion of committing an indecent act against a 16-year-old minor in south Tel Aviv on June 15, Israeli police said. The suspect, who entered without authorization, was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in custody; an indictment is expected in the coming days.
On Tuesday, Tel Aviv District police announced the filing of a prosecutor's statement against a 37-year-old Palestinian man from the village of Ubeidiya (east of Bethlehem), who was residing in Israel without authorization. He is accused of committing an indecent act against a 16-year-old boy in south Tel Aviv on June 15.
According to the police statement, the suspect lay in wait for the minor, approached him, and committed the act. Officers from the Tel Aviv South station responded to a report received via the 100 emergency hotline, located the suspect within a short time, and arrested him. His detention was extended several times as evidence was gathered.
As The Zioneer reported on June 15, a similar incident in south Tel Aviv involving an undocumented suspect from the territories led to an arrest — the current case appears to be a closely related thread. The police noted the sensitivity of the investigation and said the evidentiary foundation has been solidified. An indictment is expected in the coming days.
