Police on Friday identified the 90-year-old suspect detained in the Gush Etzion farm incident as a far-left activist, refining earlier reports that described him as a left-wing activist. The suspect was taken into custody around 16:31 Jerusalem time after allegedly dragging a woman with his car and lightly striking a boy at the Shomer Farm near Gush Etzion junction.
The Zioneer first reported at 16:31 Jerusalem that a 90-year-old man was detained following a dispute at the farm. Initial accounts indicated he arrived filming, argued with a boy, then struck the boy lightly and dragged a woman who approached. Simultaneously, police clarified that the woman sustained minor injuries and the boy was not injured. The suspect was initially described as a left-wing activist; the current update specifies his affiliation as far-left.
The Shomer Farm, located near the Gush Etzion junction, has been a site of past tensions. The Zioneer previously reported on a separate incident on June 7 involving a Palestinian vehicle striking an Israeli civilian after stone-throwing, as well as a serious accident on Road 90.
The investigation continues, and no charges have been filed. The motive for the incident remains under inquiry.
