Haifa district police have released the photo and personal details of Albert Yishmailov, the taxi driver suspected of raping a 16-year-old in the Haifa suburbs (Krayot), in an effort to locate additional victims. Four complaints have been collected thus far, according to N12. A hearing on extending his remand is scheduled today.
As The Zioneer reported earlier today (12:23), police arrested Yishmailov and are investigating multiple complaints. A second alleged victim came forward on June 12, claiming Yishmailov harassed her in 2021, when she was 14, and that the case was closed without locating him, as noted in our June 12 bulletin at 15:43. The suspect denies the rape allegations, stating the contact was consensual and that the teen misrepresented her age, according to an N12 interview with the mother of the alleged victim that we reported on June 10 at 21:24. Police first published his photo and details earlier today, while this morning (10:44) the 16-year-old complainant attended the court hearing.
What remains open: police are still appealing for any additional victims or witnesses to come forward. The hearing today at Kiryat Magistrate's Court will determine whether the suspect remains in custody.
