Israel Police and Border Police forces seized 15 ready-to-use Molotov cocktails and two grenades during an overnight operation in Lod targeting a violent family feud. Officers were dispatched after reports of an explosion in one neighborhood, finding remnants of firebombs allegedly hurled at a residence during a firefight between rival families. Fifteen suspects from both sides of the conflict were arrested.
The operation, part of the ongoing 'Iron Net' campaign against organized crime and illegal weapons in the Arab sector, took place overnight Sunday-Monday in Lod. Police were called to a neighborhood after residents reported an explosion, and upon arrival found evidence of Molotov cocktails that had been thrown at a residential building during what police described as a violent blood feud between families.
A search of a nearby structure uncovered 15 bottles filled with flammable material and ready for use, alongside two grenades. Police said the weapons appeared prepared for continued violence.
Fifteen suspects, from both sides of the feud, were arrested and transferred to the Lod police station for questioning.
The search and seizure came as part of the task force established in Lod and Ramla to combat organized crime and restore public order. The operation continues, police said.
