TL;DR

A man was shot dead while driving to work with his wife near Qalansawe, and a woman later died of her wounds, Israeli media report. Police sources say the suspected motive is a family feud over land, following the expiration of a prior reconciliation agreement between the families.

01 · THE DISPATCH

A double murder in the Arab Israeli town of Qalansawe Thursday morning is being investigated as a family feud over land, according to Israeli media. Police sources told N12 that the victims — Khalid Jamal, 62, and his wife, identified by local media as a 50-year-old woman — were shot while driving to work. Jamal was pronounced dead at the scene; his wife was critically wounded and later died of her injuries. The suspected motive is a blood feud tied to a land dispute between families, police said, noting that a reconciliation agreement (sulha) between the parties had recently expired. As The Zioneer previously reported, a similar fatal shooting in the Sharon region earlier this month also involved a couple attacked in their vehicle, though that incident was investigated as a criminal attack. Searches for suspects are ongoing; no arrests have been reported.
