The Recanati family has notified Maccabi Tel Aviv shareholders that it intends to sell half of its stake in the club — 29% — to American-Jewish businessman Jason Levin. The announcement, reported by N12, gives other shareholders a 30-day window to exercise a right of first refusal.
The Recanati family acquired the Federman family's 29% stake in the club in July, after exercising a right of first refusal. That deal ended the Federman family's 90-year involvement with Maccabi Tel Aviv, as The Zioneer reported.
The potential sale to Levin would mark a significant shift in ownership at the Israeli football club, which has been largely controlled by the Recanati family for decades. Levin, a Jewish-American businessman, is not yet publicly identified in connection with Israeli sports.
The 30-day refusal period means the deal is not final; other shareholders may step in to match the offer.
