Eli Meiri was forced to freeze his reserve service after political activity in uniform. On July 26, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich demanded the chief of staff reverse the dismissal of another reservist. On July 20, reserve officer Omri Ronen, whom Defense Minister Katz had demanded be dismissed, said he had not received an official notice. Bar-Ness himself was arrested in June and his weapon seized, as previously reported.
It remains unclear whether the IDF will issue a formal response to the report, and whether the reinstatement is permanent or conditional, as the report suggests Bar-Ness was returned 'on a conditional basis.'
