New satellite imagery from Sentinel-2, circulated on open-source tracking channels on Saturday morning, shows two confirmed missile impacts at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, with at least two hangars suffering severe structural damage consistent with direct ballistic missile strikes. The imagery adds visual confirmation to a series of reports that have emerged overnight.
The first reports of strikes on the base emerged at 01:34 Jerusalem, when CBS News reported that US officials said several American soldiers had been wounded in missile attacks on Jordan over the past week. Within the same hour, The Zioneer tracked developments: an unconfirmed report specified two Iranian missiles struck a US base; then a report identified the target as Muwaffaq al-Salti; and finally a report of a large fire at the US barracks. The new satellite imagery now provides the first visual evidence of the damage, confirming at least two impacts and severe hangar damage.
The base has been a recurring target in the ongoing Iranian missile escalation, as The Zioneer has reported since June. Earlier this month, footage and satellite imagery analysis suggested that Iranian missiles had damaged an F-16 and hangars at the same base. The current imagery corroborates those earlier assessments of hangar damage.
Jordanian and US authorities have not officially confirmed the damage. The extent of the damage and whether any aircraft were hit remains unverified.
