A shepherd from the newly established Givat Tiddhar in the Binyamin region discovered a cave that had been used as a terrorist firing range, the Front Hills Administration said Wednesday. The cave, part of an ancient Hasmonean fortress, contained bullet casings, Arabic graffiti, and improvised targets. On Wednesday, a shepherd from Givat Tiddhar, a recently established hilltop community in the Binyamin region of Judea and Samaria, discovered a cave that had been used as a terrorist firing range, according to the Front Hills Administration (Givot HaHazit).
The shepherd, Eitan Antman, said he noticed a concealed cave entrance while grazing his flock near the ancient Hasmonean fortress of Artaba. Inside, he found bullet casings, Arabic graffiti, and an improvised target with multiple bullet holes. Notably, no spent shell casings were found, suggesting the shooters deliberately collected them to conceal evidence.
The administration stated that the cave served as a pirate firing range for terrorists who likely came from the nearby village of Deir Abu Mash'al. The area, designated as Area B under the Oslo Accords, had been under full Palestinian control until the establishment of Givat Tiddhar months ago. The administration said the lack of Jewish presence before the hill's founding enabled the terrorist activity.
The discovery underscores the security challenges in the region and the importance of civilian presence, the administration added. Security forces have been notified of the findings.
