Within minutes, security analyst Yair Goldblatt attributed the blasts to Iranian fire, and reports emerged of a drone attack at the Abdali border crossing. By 13:31, Iran claimed responsibility for striking the Al-Abdali crossing, framing it as retaliation for a US strike on the Shalamcheh crossing between Iran and Iraq. The Iraqi Prime Minister was in Tehran for a meeting with the Iranian President at the time of the attack.
