The State Comptroller's office said Monday it will complete four audits — including the report on the Nova festival licensing and southern city defense — in line with the High Court's ruling, while halting work on four others. The office stated it had published over 40 reports in the past year revealing fundamental gaps in national readiness.
The State Comptroller's office issued a formal response Monday evening to the High Court's ruling that parts of its October 7 investigation were conducted without legal authority. The office said it will complete four of the eight audits whose work had not yet concluded, in accordance with the court's decision. Among the four to be finished are the audit on the licensing of the Nova festival on October 7 and the defense of southern cities. The other four probes will be halted.
The comptroller's office emphasized that over the past year it has published more than 40 reports uncovering fundamental gaps in the readiness of Israel's political, military, and civilian systems — with four more severe reports scheduled for publication Tuesday. It noted that its reviews also identified those responsible for failures across all ranks.
On Sunday, as The Zioneer reported, the High Court of Justice accepted petitions against the State Comptroller's probe into the October 7 events, ruling it ultra vires. The comptroller's office expressed regret that three years after the disaster, Israeli citizens have yet to receive answers to the difficult questions still lingering regarding the four halted audits.
