A 23-year-old Ramla resident turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon and confessed to the murder of lawyer Arbel Feldman in Rishon LeZion, according to N12 and Israel Hayom. The suspect, a client of the victim, allegedly shot Feldman in his office following a business dispute. Police said the killing was criminal, not terror-related.
Lawyer Arbel Feldman, in his 50s, was shot dead in his office on Moshe Levi Street in Rishon LeZion shortly after 13:00 Tuesday. Magen David Adom medics found him unconscious with a penetrating wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. The suspect, a 23-year-old Ramla resident known to police for property and weapons offenses, turned himself in hours later and told officers, 'I shot him,' according to N12 reporter Berhane Tegania.
Police said the suspect was a dissatisfied client who had been represented by Feldman in a tort claim. The motive was a business dispute over the legal services, Central District Commander Amir Cohen told reporters at the scene. The suspect entered the office, drew a pistol, and fired at least four shots before fleeing, Cohen said. Two witnesses were present — one on the same floor and another lawyer in a nearby office.
As The Zioneer reported earlier, police launched a manhunt immediately after the shooting. The suspect was arrested in southern Israel after turning himself in. His identity has not been officially released. The investigation is ongoing. The killing is the latest in a series of violent criminal incidents in central Israel, though police have not linked it to organized crime.
