The case began with Dayan's disappearance from Dimona on July 17. On Tuesday, July 28, police found Dayan's shirt in Petah Tikva and assessed that he was alive. Later that day, authorities reported that Dayan was involved in a hit-and-run accident and was hiding rather than kidnapped. The same day, two friends of Dayan were arrested on suspicion of obstructing the investigation, and a court extended their detention. Also on Tuesday, Omri Peretz was arrested as the second suspect in the case; his detention was extended until August 2. The investigation was transferred to the Central District due to suspicions that Dayan and his friends were involved in a brawl, as The Zioneer reported.
As The Zioneer reported on Tuesday, Peretz, represented by Attorney Alexei Galpagat from the Public Defender's Office, denies the allegations and is cooperating with investigators.
