As of Monday morning, the United Arab Emirates has not officially acknowledged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's meeting with President Mohammed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, according to N12's Sapir Lipkin. Neither government has released details of the talks.
The unannounced visit was first reported on Sunday evening (Sep 27, 22:09 Jerusalem), with journalist Yaron Avraham (N12) confirming Netanyahu flew on a private plane and returned the same day. Within hours, the timeline sharpened: landing at 15:10, a stay of roughly four hours. By the final bulletin of the night, senior officials familiar with the visit told The Zioneer the trip lasted about six hours and dealt mostly with the Iranian issue, following several conversations between the two leaders in recent weeks.
The lack of an Emirati statement fits a pattern The Zioneer has documented. On September 21, the UAE formally denied reports that bin Zayed warned Netanyahu before the October 7, 2023, attack. Earlier, on September 8, UAE sources declined to confirm or deny the reports, maintaining silence on "personal conversations" of the President. Israel's Minister for Strategic Affairs called the Haaretz story "fabricated" on September 9.
It remains unclear whether Abu Dhabi will issue a formal statement on yesterday's meeting. The Prime Minister's Office has not commented on the visit's purpose or outcomes.
