01 · THE DISPATCH

The Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment Thursday against Khaled Agbariya, 40, of Umm al-Fahm, for the fatal hit-and-run that killed reserve soldier Adisu Woba. The indictment charges Agbariya with abandonment, causing death by negligence, destruction of evidence, obstruction of justice, providing false information, reckless driving, and speeding. The prosecution has requested that the suspect be held in custody until the end of legal proceedings.

At Thu 11:08 Jerusalem, initial reports from N12 journalists identified the suspect and alleged he was driving at 132 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Highway 6 near the Elyakim junction when he struck Woba's motorcycle as the soldier signaled a lane change. The same reports detailed that Agbariya continued 200 meters, dismantled his license plates, set his vehicle on fire, and falsely reported it stolen four minutes later. Further reports that hour named the victim and outlined additional charges of obstruction and evidence tampering.

The case is being handled as a criminal matter, though it highlights the risks faced by off-duty security personnel, as The Zioneer has reported in similar incidents. The Northern District Prosecutor's Office formally submitted the indictment and a request for remand until the end of proceedings.

What remains unclear is the suspect's defense strategy and whether additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. The court is expected to rule on the remand request in the coming days.
