Two hours ago, unidentified aircraft attacked a gas facility in the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran, according to a report. The attack occurred before CENTCOM announced a new wave of strikes across Iran. The report speculates that Bahrain or Kuwait may be retaliating against Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for targeting their energy infrastructure.
A report two hours after the initial explosion in Zahedan now attributes the blast at a gas storage site to unidentified aircraft, and speculates that the aircraft may have been operated by Bahrain or Kuwait retaliating against Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for attacks on their energy infrastructure. The attack occurred around 20:17 Jerusalem, before US Central Command announced a new wave of strikes across Iran. The Zioneer first reported the explosion at 20:54 Jerusalem, initially with a misidentified location (Ahadan, southern Iran), which was corrected to Zahedan in the same minute. A third version at 20:54 added that reports indicated US strikes were not targeting gas infrastructure.
The Zioneer has previously reported on US strikes on an IRGC ground forces base in Zahedan on July 9, and explosions near Zahedan Air Base on June 10, as well as a CENTCOM announcement of a new wave of strikes on June 28 and attacks on IRGC facilities in Shiraz on July 15 and Saravan on July 14. These prior reports were all attributed to US operations, unlike tonight's attack which is attributed to an unidentified actor.
The claim of unidentified aircraft remains unverified by independent sources. No details on casualties or damage are yet available. The speculation linking Bahrain or Kuwait to the attack is not confirmed by any official statement or corroborating report.
