TL;DR

The US military said the overnight strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance and monitoring systems, surface-to-air missile batteries, anti-ship cruise missiles, and drone launch sites. Iranian reports indicate several people were wounded in the strikes at Sirik port.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The US military has released its first official breakdown of the targets struck in the overnight airstrikes, stating that the operation hit Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance and monitoring systems, surface-to-air missile batteries, anti-ship cruise missiles, and drone launch sites. Iranian reports indicate several people were wounded in the strikes at Sirik port, a naval base that has been hit in previous rounds.

The announcement follows a rapid sequence of reports overnight. At 00:50 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported initial unverified claims of 80 targets struck, which were soon confirmed by CENTCOM as a response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequent updates at the same timestamp detailed strikes on Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, and Sirik Island, and the targeting of more than 60 IRGC speedboats. The IRGC was reported to have retaliated against targets in Kuwait and Bahrain. A US official had earlier provided a similar target list to Reuters, and the military's latest statement formalizes those details.

The strikes are part of a sustained US campaign against Iranian military infrastructure that has been ongoing for weeks, as The Zioneer has reported. Preliminary target lists had included Sirik, Jask, Bandar Abbas, and Qeshm, and the Sirik base was struck in previous operations.

The extent of damage and the number of wounded at Sirik remain unverified. Iran's military command has threatened a 'crushing response,' but no further attacks have been reported since the overnight retaliation.
