Iranian state news agency Tasnim reports that US fighter jets carried out a missile attack on the airport in Iranshahr, approximately 600 km from Bandar Abbas, and that US strikes also hit a bridge connecting Bandar Abbas to Shiraz. The reports indicate the US campaign is expanding deeper into southeastern Iran.
Iranian state news agency Tasnim reported Thursday evening that US fighter jets struck the airport in Iranshahr, a city in southeastern Iran approximately 600 km from Bandar Abbas. The report came minutes after Tasnim reported that a bridge connecting Bandar Abbas to Shiraz had been hit, marking a rapid sequence of new attacks deep inside Iran.
The bridge attack was first reported by Tasnim at 23:12 Jerusalem. The Iranshahr airport strike, reported shortly after, extends the US campaign into Sistan and Baluchestan province, far from the southern coastal areas that were the focus of earlier operations. The Zioneer has previously reported on US strikes targeting military infrastructure in Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, and Ahvaz in recent weeks, with the US military confirming over 90 targets hit on a single night.
The new strikes come amid a broader American air campaign that has gradually expanded from the Strait of Hormuz coast into the Iranian interior. As The Zioneer reported on July 9, a senior American official confirmed strikes on IRGC bases and drone positions in Bushehr. Earlier, on June 10 and June 11, waves of strikes hit air defenses and radar networks in Ahvaz and other inland areas.
The reports from Tasnim remain unverified by independent sources. No immediate comment was available from US Central Command, and the extent of damage at Iranshahr airport or to the Bandar Abbas–Shiraz bridge has not been confirmed.
