Opposition MK Yair Golan sent a legal warning letter to Prime Minister's wife Sara Netanyahu on Tuesday, demanding she apologize for comments in which she reportedly questioned his combat role on October 7, or face a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit, according to his letter.
The legal escalation stems from an interview Sara Netanyahu gave on Channel 14, where she reportedly said Golan 'was ready with pressed clothes and you claim you are a fighter,' echoing a conspiracy theory that Golan was not fighting on October 7. Golan, a former deputy chief of staff and current opposition MK, has repeatedly rejected the claim. His warning letter states that Netanyahu's remarks are defamatory and cause him damages. As the Prime Minister's wife does not have parliamentary immunity, the lawsuit may proceed if she does not apologize. The Zioneer has previously reported on the ongoing tension between the Netanyahu family and Golan over the October 7 narrative.
