Located near the pre-1967 Green Line, it occupies a strategic position along the seam zone separating sovereign Israel from Samaria. On June 7, 2026, Kfar Yair became the starting point for a significant security incident described by authorities as a "rolling" terror attack. The perpetrator, later identified as an Arab-Israeli from Tayibe, moved through the neighboring communities of Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan, complicating the response of emergency services and the Israel Police. The attack resulted in the death of Haim Klumiti, a local resident and reservist, and left several others wounded.
