Katz: IDF ordered to prepare for 'Operation White-Blue' in Iran, action 'could happen as soon as tomorrow'

Defense Minister Israel Katz provided a comprehensive strategic briefing on Monday, outlining a high-readiness posture for direct operations against Iran and a rigid security policy in Lebanon. According to Katz, the IDF is currently on alert for 'Operation White-Blue,' a named offensive contingency for strikes inside Iranian territory. "We have targets to strike in Iran, and the IDF is prepared and on alert," Katz stated, adding that such an escalation could occur within 48 hours if Iran responds to Israeli actions in Lebanon with ballistic missile fire.

The Lebanon Security Equation

Addressing the ongoing situation in Lebanon, Katz emphasized that Israel has no territorial ambitions but will not withdraw "a millimeter" from its positions until Hezbollah is fully disarmed. He revealed that while a pilot program exists for the Lebanese army to take over two specific locations, the IDF's presence in southern Lebanon will remain long-term. Katz noted that the Lebanese army recently refused an Israeli request to clear Hezbollah operatives from the Ali Taher Ridge, where a major tunnel system is located, reinforcing his assessment that the IDF must maintain its security zones independently.

Deterrence and Strategic Constraints

Katz also addressed the destruction of Shiite villages along the contact line, stating it was necessary to protect the border. He reported nearly 100% destruction in border villages of the western and central sectors. Regarding the broader regional campaign, Katz claimed that American pressure and the linkage between the Lebanon and Iran arenas—pushed by the U.S. administration—prevented the total collapse of Hezbollah earlier in the conflict. He noted that the IDF is now operating under 'Plan B,' which includes the expansion of security zones and the systematic destruction of infrastructure, such as a planned demolition of a tunnel system beneath the Beaufort Ridge using 500 tons of explosives.
