Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessman, media personality and Republican politician. He led the family real-estate firm as the Trump Organization and gained wider fame hosting the reality show The Apprentice (2004–2015).
He served as the 45th U.S. president (2017–2021) and, after winning the 2024 election, returned as the 47th president, inaugurated on January 20, 2025, with Vice President J.D. Vance — the second president to serve non-consecutive terms.
Relevance to Israel and the Jewish world: In his first term his administration brokered the Abraham Accords (2020) normalizing Israel's ties with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan, moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem (2018), and recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. In his second term he advanced a 20-point Gaza peace plan; a ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, under which living Israeli hostages were released, and he has sought to expand the Accords to Saudi Arabia and others.
