01 · THE DISPATCH

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated Wednesday evening that the US-Iran agreement is in its final stages and will be signed and announced after the remaining steps are completed. He specified that the initial signing will be done remotely and digitally, possibly within days. The remark, reported by Asaf Rozentzweig (N12), adds the first explicit mention of a digital signing format to a fast-moving diplomatic thread that has been marked by shifting timelines and venues in recent days.

As The Zioneer has reported, US Vice President JD Vance said last week the deal could be signed next week or take months, while Iranian officials have alternated between signaling a deal is near and citing ongoing internal review. The Washington Post reported on June 11 that the text is closed and signing would occur soon in Geneva or Rome, and a diplomat told Israeli journalist Barak Ravid that Vance may fly to Geneva for a signing ceremony. Araghchi's own statements in recent days have evolved: at 22:31 Jerusalem, he said the MOU is under two pages and signing will be remote; earlier, at 22:31 also, he clarified that the 14-point text is not yet finalized and that nuclear talks are deferred 60 days; and in initial remarks, he conditioned final talks on full MOU implementation.

Araghchi's latest statement aligns with his previous cautious approach — he said Tuesday he would only release MoU details after finalization — but introduces the digital-signature detail, which may signal efforts to expedite the process. The venue and exact date remain unconfirmed. The development continues a thread in which the US and Iran appear to be converging on a framework, though Israel's position remains one of opposition, as Araghchi himself noted in prior remarks.

The precise timing of the digital signature, the exact venue — if any physical component remains — and whether the text has received final internal approval in both Tehran and Washington remain open questions.
