A report by Moriah Asraf and Doron Kadosh (Army Radio) cites a military source saying that due to a budget shortfall, 11 outposts on the Lebanon border were not properly fortified against explosive drones, and fortification work at other positions was halted. The Defense Ministry and IDF said the process is ongoing and gradual, denying any decision to leave outposts unfortified.
According to a report this morning by Moriah Asraf and Doron Kadosh (Army Radio), citing a military source, 11 outposts along the Lebanon border lack proper fortification against explosive drones due to a budget shortfall. Additionally, fortification work at other positions was halted after the Defense Ministry stopped paying the contractor. The report notes that some of the outposts were hit by Hezbollah drone attacks in recent months.
The Defense Ministry and the IDF Spokesperson responded that the military is continuously working to improve border infrastructure and that no decision was made to leave specific outposts unfortified. They stated that the process is being carried out gradually and that all outposts will receive the required fortification components upon completion.
The Zioneer has previously reported on budget constraints affecting force protection in the north, including a censored report on spared terror infrastructure and a military source stating that the IDF was sharply constrained in its strikes in southern Lebanon. The Hezbollah drone threat remains active; yesterday the IDF eliminated a cell operating a drone in the security zone.
