Minister Nir Barkat (Likud) said Tuesday that the government replaced 24,000 Palestinian Authority workers who were slated to enter Israel before Oct 7 with 55,000 workers from peace countries, and accused former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot of seeking to bring back 150,000 PA workers and return to the pre-war reality, according to a Channel 14 report.
Minister Nir Barkat (Likud) made the remarks on Tuesday in an interview or statement reported by Channel 14. He said the government replaced the 24,000 Palestinian Authority workers who were slated to enter Israel before October 7, 2023, with 55,000 workers from countries with which Israel has peace agreements. Barkat then accused former IDF chief of staff and war cabinet observer Gadi Eisenkot of seeking to bring back 150,000 Palestinian workers, characterizing this as a desire to return to the pre-war situation of October 6.
