Batya Rubin, mother of fallen Golani soldier Amichai Rubin, is launching a memorial project to establish 'Mishkan Amichai' — a new study hall at the Avner preparatory academy (Mechinat Avner) in Acre — as a living tribute to her son's values and sacrifice.
Amichai, 23, was killed on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas-led attack on Israel. He served as a combat soldier in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade and was mortally wounded while defending his outpost, continuing to fight after sustaining multiple injuries over two days. He died of his wounds two days later.
The family chose to establish the study hall at the very preparatory academy where Amichai studied and grew, aiming to foster future generations of young men who will study Torah and pursue lives of service and mission for the Jewish people. The fundraising campaign is now live at givechak.co.il/Akko.
As The Zioneer previously reported (June 27), the initiative reflects a deeply personal act of commemoration by a bereaved family seeking to channel loss into lasting educational impact. No further details on the construction timeline or target funding have been released.
