The suspects were later identified as security guards; both suffered light injuries from the gunfire. Police confirmed the incident is under investigation.

The event follows a similar incident at the same checkpoint about 40 minutes earlier, as The Zioneer reported at 06:25 Tuesday. In that case, a Border Police officer fired at a vehicle carrying Arab security guards who were not identified as such, after they blocked and attacked the unit. That officer fired at the suspect's lower body, feeling his life was in danger, according to initial reports. No Israeli forces were injured in either incident.
