01 · THE DISPATCH

At approximately 07:26 Jerusalem, The Zioneer obtained new details from the scene at the Qalandia checkpoint. The latest report states that Border Police officers were blocked by a vehicle carrying Arab security guards who were not identified as such. When officers attempted to move the vehicle, the suspects exited and attacked them. One officer, perceiving an immediate threat, fired a single shot, striking one assailant in the lower body. No Israeli forces were injured. This update narrows the focus to a single assailant, while earlier reports described two suspects.

The Zioneer first reported the incident at 06:20 Jerusalem, initially stating that a Border Police officer shot a person who attacked him at the rear entrance of the checkpoint. Minutes later, at the same timestamp, an update clarified that the assailants were Arab security guards and that the incident involved the suspects blocking the officers and then attacking them. A further update at 06:20 Jerusalem added that two suspects attempted to grab the officers' weapons and that both sustained light injuries. The latest report, however, indicates only one suspect was shot, and the earlier reports of a weapon grab are not reiterated.

The Qalandia checkpoint is a major crossing point between Jerusalem and the West Bank, frequently manned by Border Police. As The Zioneer reported, the suspects were employed as security guards but were not immediately identified as such by the officers. The incident is under investigation by police.

It remains unclear whether one or two suspects were involved in the attack, and whether the earlier reports of a weapon grab were accurate. The motive for the attack is also unknown. The condition of the wounded suspect has not been disclosed.
