US Central Command (CENTCOM) disabled the Palau-flagged oil tanker Marivex in international waters in the Gulf of Oman on June 8, after it violated the ongoing blockade against Iran while attempting to sail to an Iranian port. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from the USS Abraham Lincoln fired precision munitions into the ship's engineering and steering compartments after the crew failed to comply with US orders. CENTCOM says the Marivex is no longer sailing toward Iran.
