US Central Command announced it launched a fresh round of strikes against Iran at 22:00 Jerusalem (15:00 ET), targeting capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The renewed naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas is set to take effect at 23:00 Jerusalem (16:00 ET), according to CENTCOM.
At 22:00 Jerusalem tonight, US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a new round of airstrikes against Iranian military assets, targeting capabilities that threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes are underway as the US military prepares to enforce a renewed naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas, set to take effect at 23:00 Jerusalem (16:00 ET).
The Zioneer first reported the impending blockade and strikes at 21:50 Jerusalem, when the initial CENTCOM order and military announcements were published. Within minutes, the US military confirmed that a new wave of strikes had begun and that the naval siege would resume within 30 minutes. At 21:52, CENTCOM published the full blockade order, detailing that during the initial blockade from April 13 to June 18, over 140 vessels were diverted, nine disabled for non-compliance, and more than 50 humanitarian cargo ships were allowed through, as The Zioneer reported.
The operation is the latest escalation in a US campaign to degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping, following a series of tanker attacks in the region. As The Zioneer has reported, earlier strike waves in late June and early July targeted command centers, drone depots, and other capabilities near the Strait of Hormuz. The current strikes and renewed blockade mark a continuation of that campaign.
The duration of the current strikes and the specific enforcement rules for the renewed blockade remain unconfirmed. Tehran has been warned against retaliation, but no official response from Iran has been reported.
