The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Tuesday extended the detention of two Samaria farmers for a second time, by four additional days. The farmers were arrested on Saturday after they went out to retrieve their flock that had been stolen from them; they were attacked by dozens of Arab rioters during the incident, according to the Honenu organization. Lawyers David Halevy and Daniel Shemeshshvili of Honenu, who represent the farmers, described the case as weak and stated they would appeal the extension. A growing public campaign has gathered support from MKs Zvi Sukkot, Amit Halevi, Limor Son Har Melech, and Ariel Kalner, along with Samaria rabbis including Rabbi Elyakim Levanon and Rabbi David Dudkevitz and local council secretaries, who signed a petition calling for the farmers' release. As The Zioneer previously reported (BACKGROUND), the founders of a similar farm in Safed faced a parallel hearing after a livestock theft by Arabs, with no arrests made in that case.
