The release follows a day of protests that Hirshman had been reporting on since Thursday afternoon. At 17:26 Jerusalem, Hirshman reported that a convoy of dozens of vehicles departed Beit Shemesh for Jerusalem in coordination with police, in support of 63 individuals recently released from detention in the Solberg case. Later reports indicated that some participants were arrested, and the convoy arrived in Jerusalem where released detainees were paraded on trucks as the crowd danced. Protesters chanted, 'We will not serve in the enemy army.'
The Zioneer has previously reported on Hirshman's documentation of police conduct during Haredi demonstrations, including footage of officers using batons. The Haredi press has also extensively covered the protests, a development Hirshman described as a 'consciousness achievement' for the radical fringe, as The Zioneer reported on June 18.
