Speaking at a conference at Reichman University, former Chief of Staff and War Cabinet observer Gadi Eisenkot urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to establish a wide-ranging state commission of inquiry into the October 7 attacks and the years preceding them, warning that without a full truth-seeking process, Israel will remain trapped in painful narratives.
Former IDF Chief of Staff and war cabinet observer Gadi Eisenkot made the call during an academic conference titled "And There is Hope for Your Future" at Reichman University, co-hosted by the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
"Growth will not happen until we reach truth-seeking," Eisenkot said. "We must investigate what really happened on October 7 and in the years before it." He described the absence of a state commission of inquiry as deeply troubling, allowing everyone to tell their own version of events.
Eisenkot's remarks echo earlier criticism of Prime Minister Netanyahu's handling of the security crisis. In a statement on Monday, as previously reported by The Zioneer, Eisenkot accused Netanyahu of offering "zero real answers." The call for an official inquiry represents his most direct demand yet for a formal investigative body.
