The father of Yahya Bassimi, one of three victims killed in a vehicle explosion near Baqa al-Gharbiyya on Sunday, told The Zioneer that the blast was so powerful it left no remains of his son or his nephews. "They didn't even leave bodies," he said. The statement comes a day after the triple homicide was first reported.
The Zioneer initially reported the incident on Sunday at 04:24 Jerusalem, noting that three relatives, including a 16-year-old, had been found dead in a burning vehicle near the town. Shortly thereafter, police revealed they were investigating a suspicion that the victims had been killed at another location and then placed inside the vehicle — a line of inquiry referred to as a "red dome" trap. Later on Sunday, the victims were identified as brothers Muhammad Odeh, 16, and Qassem Odeh, 20, and their cousin Yahya Bassimi, 22, as The Zioneer reported.
The triple homicide is part of a broader pattern of violent attacks in central Israel. As The Zioneer has previously reported, vehicle explosions have occurred in other parts of the country, including a fatal blast in Kiryat Haim and a car bomb in Jaffa that killed a man. Police have not yet established a motive for Sunday's killings.
The identity of the perpetrators remains unknown, and no arrests have been reported. The father's account of the blast's severity has not been independently confirmed by investigators, who continue to probe the circumstances.
