Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said at a ceremony formalizing the settlement of Giv'ot that he plans to promote approval of thousands of additional housing units, beyond the more than 800 already cleared, according to the minister's office.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced Thursday morning at a ceremony marking the regulation of the Giv'ot settlement in the Gush Etzion bloc that he intends to advance approval of thousands of additional housing units, on top of more than 800 units already authorized. The statement follows a similar announcement overnight in which Smotrich first revealed the plan for a new city around the existing community. As The Zioneer reported earlier today, the initiative is part of a broader push to expand the Gush Etzion settlement bloc, which the Gush Etzion Regional Council head said has doubled the number of its settlements over the past three years. Smotrich's office did not specify the exact number of new units or a timeline for approval.
