Later on Saturday evening, a fire swept through a settlement in Samaria, forcing the evacuation of the entire community, according to the Israel Fire and Rescue Services. Flames spread to homes, but no casualties have been reported and the cause is not yet known.
The Zioneer reported at 16:21 Jerusalem that a fire in Havat Gilad had destroyed at least six homes and injured a firefighter. Within the same hour, additional fires were reported in the communities of Shomshit and Kedumim, and firefighting aircraft were deployed to combat the blazes. The current fire appears to be a separate escalation, leading to the full evacuation of a settlement.
The region has seen heightened wildfire activity this summer. The Zioneer previously reported on a suspected arson near Yitzhar in Samaria on June 30, and on fires in Harish, Beit Shemesh, and other locations across the country.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet provided an update on containment or the full extent of property damage.
