Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich visited the Samaria settlement of Havat Gilad on Saturday evening, following a fire that damaged parts of the community. Accompanied by the IDF Judea and Samaria Division commander, the Samaria district police commander, and the fire services chief, Smotrich held a situation assessment with local council head Yossi Dagan.
At the conclusion of the assessment, Smotrich announced that the Property Tax (Mas Rechush) authority would conduct an immediate review, and that an investigation into the fire's source would be opened. Dagan said the community would emerge 'much bigger and stronger' from the incident.
The visit comes amid a wave of fires in Samaria over recent days. Smotrich had earlier called on the Shin Bet and police to investigate the broader arson wave, as The Zioneer reported on Saturday evening.
